BCTGM International staff, together with members of the Nabisco 600, spent two days handing out fliers and talking to students and faculty at the University of Kansas, November 28-29. The effort is part of the expansion of the Made-in-Mexico Nabisco Boycott and the “Check the Label” campaign to colleges and universities around the country.
BCTGM International Representative Brad Schmidt, BCTGM Local 218 (Topeka, Kan.) President Mark Benaka, Business Manager Conrad Boos, and Local 218 steward Luke Domme joined the Nabisco 600 team to visit the University campus in Lawrence, Kan. The union leaders distributed more than 1,000 “Join the Movement” fliers outside academic buildings throughout the campus and posted additional materials 
throughout the university, including the student union and radio station. One Professor asked for several hundred of the fliers so he could discuss the Boycott and Check the Label campaign with his students.
Later Tuesday evening, the Nabisco 600 representatives and BCTGM staff were joined by other Local 218 supporters, including Teamsters Local 696 Business Agent Matt Hall, to distribute more than 1,500 fliers and information concerning the Boycott outside the Allen Field House before the KU basketball game.
